On August 30 we hosted a webinar discussion with the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) titled “A Changing Tide in Africa: Conflict, Corruption & Economic Opportunity.”
A new story is emerging in Africa and it is being told by those most crucial in determining Africa’s future – its citizens. Their concerns are shifting away from tribal clashes and state-driven violence toward a new set of issues. Africa’s citizens are disappointed by the performance of their governments, concerned about pervasive corruption, and face a dire lack of economic opportunities.
The discussion, with leading Africa experts, explored findings from a new CIGI-GlobeScan poll on conflict and change in Africa.
Speakers included:
- Chester Crocker, former US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs & CIGI Senior Fellow
- Pamela Aall, CIGI Senior Fellow & Senior Advisor for conflict prevention and management at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP)
- Chris Coulter, CEO, GlobeScan
