We are delighted to announce that GlobeScan has been named a ‘Best For The World 2022: Governance’ B Corp in recognition of our best practices and consistent efforts to positively impact all our stakeholders. We rank in the top 5% of all B Corps in our size group worldwide in the Governance impact area.
Every year, B Lab recognizes the B Corps that have achieved the highest verified scores in the five impact areas evaluated on the B Impact Assessment.
The Governance impact area evaluates a company’s overall mission, engagement around its social/environment impact, ethics, and transparency. This section also evaluates the ability of a company to protect their mission and formally consider stakeholders in decision making through their corporate structure or corporate governing documents.
Key to our success in achieving this recognition, is the adoption of a legal framework that ensures the protection of our mission by requiring GlobeScan to consider the impact of its decisions on its stakeholders and have a wider purpose beyond just creating value for shareholders. We have also signed up to the B Corp declaration of interdependence and firmly believe that we must be the change we seek in the world. We are committed to play our part to help co-create a sustainable and equitable future.
Commenting on our achievement, Corinne Fontaine, GlobeScan’s Chief Operating Officer, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to be recognized in this year’s Best For The World 2022 as a company who has an impact business model that is intentionally designed to create a positive outcome for its stakeholders. As a proudly independent, purpose-led, employee-owned company, we’re passionate about collaborating with our colleagues, our clients, our community of experts, and the wider world around us to find solutions to the world’s toughest challenges.”
‘Best For The World’ recognition is administered by B Lab, the global nonprofit that certifies and supports Certified B Corporations, which are for-profit companies dedicated to using business as a force for good. To date, there are 5,000 B Corps in 154 industries and 80 countries around the world.
B Corps meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corp Certification doesn’t just evaluate a product or service, it assesses the overall positive impact of the company that stands behind it. Using the B Impact Assessment, B Lab evaluates how a company’s operations and business model impacts its workers, community, environment, and customers. To achieve the B Corp Certification, a company must achieve a score of at least 80 points on the assessment.
In 2021, GlobeScan recertified as a B Corp achieving an overall impact score of 101.2 – a 20.8-point increase on our original certification score of 80.4 back in 2017. In 2019, GlobeScan was recognized as one of the ’Best for the World’ B Corps for ‘Workers’.
