Health & Well-being in a Changing World
Health and well-being are shaped by many aspects of daily life, from sleep, nutrition, and physical activity to access to care, trusted information, affordability, and environmental conditions. This report explores how people experience health and well-being today, the barriers they face, and the factors that influence healthier lives.
As health and well-being become increasingly important priorities, understanding the factors that help or hinder healthier lives has never been more relevant. These findings offer valuable insights for organizations seeking to support better health outcomes in a rapidly changing world.
Key findings include:
- Sleep is the most universally important driver of health and well-being. Good sleep ranks as the most important influence on both health and well-being across all ten markets surveyed, ahead of emotional well-being and physical activity.
- Most people want to improve their health, but barriers often get in the way. Nearly nine in ten people want to take better care of their health and well-being, yet tiredness, stress, competing responsibilities, cost, and lack of time create significant challenges.
- “Eating well” means fresh, not perfect. People take a broad and practical view of healthy eating, emphasizing fresh foods, key nutrients, balanced diets, affordability, and enjoyment rather than perfection.
- Climate change is becoming a personal health issue. Extreme heat and air pollution are among the most commonly reported climate-related impacts on health and well-being, prompting many people to change their daily habits and routines.
- Healthcare professionals are the most trusted sources of health information. Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals are trusted far more than brands, media, influencers, or retailers when it comes to health information.
