Our Team

Álvaro Almeida
Director, Brazil

Álvaro leads GlobeScan’s office in Brazil. A journalist by training, Álvaro is a strategic advisor around reputation management, stakeholder engagement, purpose and sustainability. He has led projects across a range of sectors including financial services, mining, agribusiness, pulp and paper, food and beverages, personal care, automotive, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, apparel and information technology. He currently works with Natura, Banco Itau, Fibria and Anglo American.

Álvaro is the organizer and curator of the Sustainable Brands conference in Brazil and serves as a board member and advisor for various private and civil society organizations. Álvaro is based in Sao Paulo and is fluent in Portuguese and English and proficient in Spanish.

    Vanesa Berenstein
    Senior Consultant

    Vanesa has 19 years of experience as a senior public and stakeholder opinion specialist. She has a sociology background and broad experience in managing multi-country survey research. Vanesa joined GlobeScan in 2003, having previously worked for TNS in Buenos Aires. She is currently coordinating GlobeScan’s  fieldwork activity and works with clients in the oil, mining, and banking sectors, as well as with multilaterals and NGOs.

    Vanesa is fluent in English and Spanish.

      Daniel Bergin
      Senior Project Manager

      Daniel joined GlobeScan in 2019. He is based in the Hong Kong office and focuses on Wildlife Trade Demand Reduction and Social and Behavioural Change Communication. Daniel has worked as a researcher and consultant across a North Africa and Asia since 2012 and received his PhD in Anthropology from Oxford Brookes University in 2019, with a focus on wildlife trade in Morocco. As a researcher, Daniel has published on diverse topics such as sustainable use of wildlife, wildlife trade methods, animal welfare and wildlife trade law in North Africa, Europe and Asia.

      Salim Binbrek
      Senior Project Manager

      With a background in international development and public policy, Salim has worked as a researcher and policy analyst for a variety of international think tanks and departments in the public sector.  At GlobeScan, Salim leads several of our global stakeholder research projects for an  array of clients from the International Monetary Fund, Inter-American Development Bank and the International Development Research Centre to Nestlé, 3M, Newmont, Gates Foundation, ISEAL Alliance, and Scotiabank.

        Kathryn Borrell
        Project Manager

        Kathryn joined GlobeScan’s London office in 2018 after beginning her market research career at Ipsos MORI’s Reputation Centre. Her several years of experience running reputation and stakeholder engagement research benefits clients by helping them to build long-term trust and communicate messages effectively. Kathryn has worked across a wide range of sectors including oil and gas, tech, utilities, finance, and education.

        Perrine Bouhana
        Director

        Perrine heads up GlobeScan Paris, where she works with leading organizations and brands, helping them understand and engage with their consumers and stakeholders, and advising them on strategies to build trust at the intersection of sustainability, purpose, and reputation.

        Perrine has more than ten years of experience providing insight and advice to a diverse roster of clients, including Danone, Nestlé, Coca-Cola, C&A, IKEA, VF Corporation, and most recently the OECD. Perrine joined GlobeScan – via its London office – in 2014, having previously worked at Edelman in China and Hong Kong where she led research, strategy consulting, and communications projects across Asia.

        Based in Paris, Perrine is a French native. She graduated from Sciences Po Lyon majoring in International Affairs and also holds an MSC in Business Management and Sustainable Development from Paris Dauphine University.

        Beverley Buchanan
        Associate Director

        Bev is a skilled researcher and strategic advisor with over 15 years of experience. Her expertise lies specifically in the area of measuring and managing stakeholder relationships. Bev is a trained moderator and facilitator with specialist knowledge in the area of stakeholder engagement and organisational culture and delights in assisting clients through a process of constructive internal engagement. Bev has collaborated with a wide variety of organisations throughout Africa including: Safaricom, Distell, Old Mutual, Barclays Africa and Exxaro.

        Based in GlobeScan’s Cape Town office, Bev is fluent in both English and Afrikaans.

          Gayle Chong
          Senior Project Manager

          Gayle joined GlobeScan in 2014 with experience in sustainability, branding, and market research. Gayle works with clients such as SC Johnson, Citi, Maple Leaf and Natura to develop more purposeful strategies and frameworks.

          Prior to joining GlobeScan, Gayle worked in the development of transformational consumer behavior change programs relating to energy, water, and waste.

          She holds a Masters in Environmental Studies, and Hon.B.Sc. in Biology.

          Corane Chu
          Analyst and Project Management

          Corane recently joined GlobeScan as a junior project manager and analyst. She graduated with a communication degree with multiple marketing work experiences, including Fimmick and Civic Exchange. She is also the former National Vice President of AIESEC’s office in Hong Kong. Corane’s clients include the Zoological Society of London, TRAFFIC and WWF.

          Chris Coulter
          CEO

          Chris works with leadership organizations to help them better understand and respond to shifting stakeholder expectations, build trust with key constituencies and exert greater influence in shaping the future.

          Chris has two decades of experience in providing evidence-based counsel in the areas of reputation, purpose and sustainability. He is passionate about building trusted and recognized leadership for GlobeScan’s clients.

          Chris has substantive international experience having lived in North America, Europe and Asia and works with GlobeScan clients in all regions of the world. He is also a member of SustainAbility’s Council, is a Board Member of Canadian Business for Social Responsibility and is a member of the new Multinational Subcommittee of B Lab’s Standards Advisory Council.

          Francis Cowan
          Senior Proofreader

          Francis has been with GlobeScan since 2010 and leads on proofreading and quality control for our reports and presentations. Recent projects he has worked on include our annual Radar survey, as well as reports for corporate, non-profit and multi-lateral clients.  He has 20 years of proofreading and production experience in print and digital publishing across a wide range of fields including legal, academic, education, advertising and financial reporting.

            Abbie Curtis O’Reilly
            Associate Director

            Abbie is a strategic advisor and researcher, with a particular focus on sustainability. Abbie thrives in helping organisations understand their purpose in society and achieve leadership positions by listening and engaging with external stakeholders and consumers.

            Abbie’s recent clients range from recognised sustainability leaders such as IKEA and Nestlé, to not-for-profits, such as the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and certification organisations including Fairtrade International, the Forest Stewardship Council and the Marine Stewardship Council, among many others.

            Prior to joining GlobeScan’s London office in 2013, Abbie worked in sustainability research and consulting. She holds an LLB (Hons) in Law and an MSc in Business & Community.

            Femke de Man
            Director

            Femke has two decades of experience helping global organisations navigate the social contract between business and society. She leads teams focused on enhancing organisational reputation, brand positioning, and sustainability , applying her expertise gained from her corporate accounts such as McDonald’s, PepsiCo, Anglo American, De Beers, Johnson & Johnson, Citi, and Scotiabank, and multilateral clients such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).

            Femke is a stakeholder intelligence specialist, focused on identifying the best way for her clients to listen to and effectively engage with their stakeholders to build trust. She regularly briefs senior executives in Europe, North America, Latin America, and sub-Saharan Africa on the societal context, stakeholder perceptions, and the implications for strategy development.

            Femke joined GlobeScan in 2000 after working at an environmental consultancy. She was appointed to GlobeScan’s management team in 2016.

            Corinne Fontaine
            Chief Operating Officer

            Corinne manages the day-to-day operations of GlobeScan, overseeing governance, financial services, and human resources across all of our offices around the world. A member of our management team, Corinne has been instrumental in supporting our transition to an insights and strategy firm that helps companies, NGOs and governmental organizations build the trust they need to create enduring value for themselves and for society.

            In 2017, Corinne played a critical role in helping GlobeScan to achieve its B Corp certification status and join the global movement of people using business as a force for good.

            Anneke Greyling
            Director, Africa

            Anneke heads up the GlobeScan team in Africa. She is often quoted as an independent political commentator and analyst on the interface between business, government and society. Anneke has conducted complex multi-stakeholder research programs in more than 40 countries and has in-depth experience of research and stakeholder dynamics in Africa. She has advised senior management at financial services, beverages and telecom companies on reputation and stakeholder engagement strategies. Recent clients include African leadership companies such as Old Mutual, Barclays Africa, De Beers, Vodacom, SAB and Safaricom.

            Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Anneke is fluent in Afrikaans and English.

            Lisa Groves
            Senior Consultant

            Lisa is both a seasoned international research practitioner and an expert in generating insight on reputation management and communications strategy. She has over 15 years of combined consultancy and client-side experience, including at the BBC and Freud communications. Lisa holds a Masters in Environment and Sustainable Development and has worked with a diverse range of corporate and third sector clients on how to communicate to the public and stakeholders on brand purpose, sustainability, CSR, development, social and health issues.

              Anup Guruvugari
              Director, India

              Based in Mumbai, Anup represents GlobeScan in India. He has more than a decade of experience as a sustainability practitioner with expertise in climate finance, corporate responsibility, ESG disclosures, maturity and impact assessment, social entrepreneurship, sustainability reporting and sustainability strategy across multiple sectors. Anup has completed his Post Graduation with a specialization in Environmental Management and is well versed with global sustainability guidelines and standards. Prior to joining GlobeScan, Anup worked as a key member and leader in the climate change and sustainability services teams of EY, KPMG and YES BANK.

              Alleeya Hassim
              Research Analyst

              Alleeya is a recent Law graduate of the London School of Economics where she developed a keen interest in international and environmental policy. While studying she was able to develop her technical research skills which she applied in her previous role at an education solutions firm.

              Alleeya joined GlobeScan’s London team in 2017 and is involved in both stakeholder and consumer engagement projects.

                Nadia Hazime
                Project Manager

                Nadia joined GlobeScan in 2018 and is involved in our Sustainable Development Goals Leadership Series. She has several years of experience in the financial industry, where she developed a keen interest in socially responsible investing and sustainability. She is passionate about stakeholder research, and experienced in evaluating sustainable business solutions, environmental and energy policy, as well as impact investing.

                She holds a Masters in Environmental Studies in Sustainability Management and Hon. BA in Sociology and Humanities.

                Caroline Holme
                Director

                Caroline leads GlobeScan’s team in Europe, working with some of the world’s most influential brands. She has more than two decades of experience in stakeholder and consumer consultations, covering topics relating to reputation, sustainability and purpose. She regularly briefs organisations on business and society trends and implications. Caroline specialises in helping organisations develop and implement effective stakeholder and consumer engagement strategies and pioneered GlobeScan’s very first online collaboration forum, in 2012, with Unilever.

                Based in London, Caroline joined GlobeScan in 2007, having held senior consultancy and client-side roles in the financial services and healthcare industries. She is a member of the Management Team and leads GlobeScan’s strategic plan for achieving our purpose.

                Niki Hutson
                Project Manager

                Niki joined GlobeScan in January 2019 and brings eight years of experience working in business sustainability and innovation management for the private and public sector, and holds a PhD in Sustainable Consumption, from the Sustainable Consumption Institute (SCI) at the University of Manchester. Her combined research, teaching, and client-side experience has taken her across Europe, Asia and America, Niki has worked with a wide range of organisations focusing on research and analysis, engagement and communication strategies, advisory work, strategy and brand development, and enjoys working on the development of transformational industry change on sustainable development.

                Dr. Eugene Kritski
                Vice President, Methodology

                Dr. Kritski is GlobeScan’s chief methodologist, and is involved in the fundamental design and analysis of all major projects. Eugene has 20 years of experience in international public opinion, marketing and stakeholder research.  He has expertise in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies with a specific knowledge of cross-cultural study design and implementation.

                He is the author of several books and research papers, and a frequent speaker at professional forums. Dr. Kritski has taught research methodology to graduate students at The George Washington University and Adizes Institute for Organizational Transformation.  Fluent in English and Russian, Eugene joined GlobeScan in 2003.

                Christine LaMontagne
                Senior Project Manager

                Christine is based in GlobeScan’s San Francisco office and has worked with a wide range of global organisations including McDonald’s, Fairtrade International, the Walt Disney Company, and Cisco, among many others. Christine most enjoys helping clients respond to stakeholder expectations on issues that relate to sustainability and corporate reputation. In addition, she has led on global consumer engagement studies and has a strong understanding of today’s ethically-driven consumer landscape and trends.

                Prior to joining GlobeScan, Christine was a sustainability analyst at a socially-responsible investment firm near Washington, D.C.

                Tove Malmqvist
                Senior Project Manager

                Tove manages GlobeScan’s syndicated Radar research program—delivering high value analysis, sector-specific findings, and relevant data-driven insights for issues and reputation management to leadership organizations in the corporate and non-profit arenas. Tove also manages The Sustainability Survey, conducted in partnership with the consultancy SustainAbility and Sustainable Brands. Fluent in English, French and Swedish, Tove has been with GlobeScan since 2005.

                Wander Meijer
                Director, Asia Pacific

                Wander is a senior executive with over 20 years of business and management experience in Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. He is a sustainability and social development policy advisor for several companies and NGO’s in Asia, living and working in Hong Kong and China since 1999.

                Wander heads up the GlobeScan team in Asia Pacific, which conducts reputation and sustainability strategy work for a range of clients. He is particularly passionate about consumer behavior change research.

                Robin Miller
                Manager, Communications and Digital Media

                Robin is a marketing and communications expert with over 10 years of experience. Based out of GlobeScan’s Toronto office, he is responsible for disseminating our thought leadership research to external audiences, including the media, public, and clients.

                Robin manages our online presence, social media channels, and coordinates our regular online webinars highlighting findings from our range of research projects.

                Robin joined GlobeScan in 2010 after previous roles in sustainability communications and management and graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

                James Morris
                Director

                James leads GlobeScan’s San Francisco office where he works in partnership with leading organizations, helping them understand and engage with their stakeholders, and advising them on strategies to build trust and drive long-term value for themselves and society.

                James has two decades of experience providing strategic insight and advice to a diverse roster of clients. Recent clients include The Walt Disney Company, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, HP, eBay, AT&T, Clorox, TB Alliance, PG&E, Intel and VMware.  James joined GlobeScan in 2009, having previously worked at Ipsos MORI in the UK, where he provided strategic insights to government, businesses and non-profits.

                Eve Murray
                Executive Administrator

                Eve manages GlobeScan’s London office and provides senior administrative support to the London and Paris-based teams. She joined GlobeScan in 2010, having previously held various roles in corporate marketing for The Royal Bank of Scotland and Xerox Corporation.

                  Terri Newman
                  Director, Graphics and Technical Support

                  Based in our Toronto office, Terri directs production and quality control for GlobeScan’s reporting and presentations. She has been instrumental in finding new and innovative ways of visually displaying primary data to allow for easy interpretation.

                  Terri leads on GlobeScan’s online data visualization delivery tool which enables clients to access automated reporting.  Working across multiple client accounts, Terri is a key member of the operational team and is responsible for streamlining processes and delivery.

                  Terri joined GlobeScan in 2000. She holds a degree in Environment and Resource Studies.

                    Stacy Rowland
                    Director, Public Relations and Communication

                    Based in Toronto, Stacy directs strategic communications and media relations for GlobeScan’s thought leadership programme. She has 20 years of client-side experience in public relations from her time at British Telecom (BT) in London, UK.

                    Stacy has an in-depth understanding of CSR and sustainability and is experienced in working across multiple stakeholder audiences. She co-ordinates joint thought leadership campaigns with our partners as well as providing consultancy and advice on client-projects on communication strategies.

                    Stacy moved from the UK to Canada in 2015.

                    Sylvie Scheer
                    Associate Director

                    Sylvie has 15 years of experience as project director, analyst and report writer for both corporations and NGOs on strategic research programs, research approaches with key stakeholders and multi-country tracking programs, market analysis and market sizing in APAC. She is a post-graduate, KEDGE Business School (Marseilles’ Graduate School of Management, France), Master with specialization in International Business and International Marketing.

                    Sylvie is now living in France, having worked in Hong Kong for twelve years.

                      Shannon Stevenson
                      External Relations Manager

                      Shannon is a marketing and brand expert with 20 years of experience in business development and external relations. Her responsibilities include creating long term value for GlobeScan by developing and implementing growth opportunities, in particular new sales and client relationship activities.

                      Shannon also coordinates GlobeScan’s Conversations with Leaders Dialogue series, and supports the CEO’s office. She has worked closely with SC Johnson, McDonald’s, PepsiCo, Interface and Newmont, to help them build their stakeholder networks.

                      Caterina Tantalo
                      Project Manager

                      Caterina joined the Toronto GlobeScan office in January 2019. She is passionate about thought leadership, strategic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and stakeholder engagement.

                      She started her career as a strategic consultant while working on her PhD. She helped companies and government entities to solve strategic and operational issues; plan and implement CSR strategies; and engage their stakeholders. Before joining GlobeScan, Caterina worked in academia for several years and published papers and research projects in the fields of Strategic Value Creation, Stakeholder Engagement and CSR.

                      Caterina holds a PhD in Management, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Strategic Management and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Business Administration and General Management from Luiss Guido Carli University (Rome, Italy).

                      Angèle Tasse
                      Research Analyst

                      With a dual academic background in public policy and biology, Angèle joined GlobeScan after having worked on stakeholder engagement projects and public-private partnerships at the UN World Food Programme, Danone and the City of Paris. Having developed a passion for food, health and sustainability issues, she brings rich experience in strategy consulting with a focus on sustainable agriculture and nutrition issues.

                      Angèle is a French native and holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Sciences Po Paris, a BA in Social Science and a BS in Biology. Based in GlobeScan’s Paris office, she is involved in stakeholder intelligence, engagement and strategy consulting projects.

                      Ellen Tops
                      Associate Director

                      Ellen started her market research career at (now) Ipsos Netherlands and joined TNS upon moving to Hong Kong in early 1999. Since mid-2017 Ellen has been an Associate Director with GlobeScan. She is an experienced project director and professional trainer, who oversees all phases of a project with a focus on data collection, supplier management and client servicing. Ellen’s clients include Hystra / LeFil, WWF, TRAFFIC and USAID.

                      Clare Warren
                      Director, Global Field and Stakeholder Engagement

                      Clare Warren is an experienced research and operations professional, with a history of success at the most influential and creative agencies. Approachable and accredited; she’s a Market Research Society (MRS) and ESOMAR member, and on the MRS Company Partner Scheme (CPS) Board, the Interviewer Quality Control Scheme (IQCS) Council, and the Association of Survey Computing (ASC) Committee.

                      Clare joined GlobeScan as a Director in August 2018, and is trained in qualitative, quantitative and associated disciplines; with experience as a researcher, and in both research and business operations; which affords her a uniquely advantageous place from which to drive client projects.

                      Eric Whan
                      Director

                      Eric is a specialist in corporate and non-profit leadership, with deep expertise in helping organizations drive positive change in the world through stakeholder and consumer engagement. He takes pride in helping organizations achieve leadership positions and most enjoys working with clients who are champions of change within their organizations.

                      He currently leads The GlobeScan /SustainAbility Survey, the world’s definitive survey of sustainable development experts, and directed “Greendex” – the largest global study tracking sustainable consumption trends – in partnership with the National Geographic Society. Recent clients include the New York City Mayor’s Office, Newmont, SC Johnson, The Government of Canada, the Inter-American Development Bank, ISEAL, We Mean Business, the Royal Bank of Canada, 3M, and the Forest Stewardship Council among many others.

                      Eric was appointed as the GlobeScan Foundation’s Executive Director in 2017.

                      Derek Wu
                      Project Manager

                      Derek is a junior project manager and analyst based in our Hong Kong office. Derek joined GlobeScan in 2017 as a graduate from HKUST. He is involved in assisting clients on building corporate sustainability strategy as well as conducting consumer change behaviour research. Prior to GlobeScan, Derek was the local chapter president of AIESEC in Hong Kong, a non-governmental, not-for-profit youth organization on developing youth leadership.

                        Crystal Yang
                        Associate Director, Methodology

                        Crystal is involved in the technical and data quality aspects of GlobeScan’s primary research, including sampling and modeling. She uses various multivariate analysis to unlock data for insightful interpretation.

                        Fluent in English and Mandarin, Crystal joined GlobeScan in 2011, having previously held senior research positions at TNS China, where she led on large scale market research and data mining projects with complicated design and advanced statistical analysis.

                          Penny Yu
                          Executive Administrator

                          Penny provides senior administrative support to all of GlobeScan’s team members and plays a key role in helping to ensure that the team well placed to deliver the best support to clients. Penny is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

                          Prior to joining GlobeScan, Penny held various roles in the legal, engineering and financial industries.  Her biggest achievement was having the opportunity to be involved in the launch of a satellite going up into Space while working on a project with US companies and the Chinese Department of Space.

                            Greig Clark
                            Deputy Chair

                            Greig Clark is the Founding and Managing Partner of the Horatio Enterprise Fund, a venture capital fund. He also serves on the board of a number of companies and served as the CEO of several of the portfolio companies in times of transition. Greig was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year in 1979 and Top Ten Entrepreneur of the Decade in 1990. He also writes for Profit Magazine.

                              The Rt. Hon. Joe Clark
                              Director

                              The Right Honourable Joe Clark is Vice Chairman of the Global Leadership Foundation, which exists to improve the quality of political leadership and governance by enabling today’s national leaders to benefit from the experience of former leaders. He is also president of Joe Clark and Associates, an international consulting firm based in Canada. He is a professor and board member of the Institute for the Study of International Development at McGill University. Mr. Clark was elected eight times to the House of Commons of Canada, and served as Prime Minister of Canada, Foreign Minister, and Minister of Constitutional Affairs, among others.

                                Gail Klintworth
                                Chair

                                Gail held the role of chief sustainability officer for Unilever, globally positioning the group as a pioneer in corporate, social and environmental stewardship. She has over 30 years’ experience with varied roles in human resources, sales, marketing and business solutions across Unilever’s foods, home care and personal care businesses. She served as CEO of Unilever South Africa and executive vice president for Unilever’s savoury category. Subsequently, she worked for Old Mutual in various roles, where she helped build their Positive Futures Plan, encouraging inclusive growth and responsible investment. At SYSTEMIQ, she is leading the work for various industries and is supporting SYSTEMIQ operations.

                                  Randi Kronthal-Sacco
                                  Director

                                  Randi is a Senior Scholar at the NYU Stern Center for Sustainable Business. With over 25 years of packaged goods and pharmaceutical experience, Randi most recently was a senior executive at Johnson & Johnson®, where she served as Worldwide Vice President on two of the company’s most important franchises, Johnson’s Baby and Women’s Health. Prior to her role at Johnson & Johnson, Randi served in various product management capacities for 8 years at Kraft Foods including Director, Desserts Division.

                                  Abbie’s recent clients range from recognised sustainability leaders such as IKEA and Nestlé, to not-for-profits, such as the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and certification organisations including Fairtrade International, the Forest Stewardship Council and the Marine Stewardship Council, among many others.

                                  Prior to joining GlobeScan’s London office in 2013, Abbie worked in sustainability research and consulting. She holds an LLB (Hons) in Law and an MSc in Business & Community.
